ACEP Hosts Visiting Researchers: Dane Boysen and Chris Hagen

On Monday, December 2nd, Dr. Chris Hagen (Assistant Professor, Oregon State University) and Dr. Dane Boysen (Program Director, U.S. Dept. of Energy) visited UAF and gave a seminar about the U.S. Dept. of Energy’s Advanced Research and Projects Agency-Energy program, commonly referred to as ARPA-e. The seminar, held in ACEP’s Power Systems Integration Lab, was well attended by faculty, students, and members of the public.

Dr. Hagen’s presentation was about his ARPA-e funded research regarding combustion of alternative fuels, especially natural gas, for use in internal combustion engines. Dr. Boysen’s seminar focused on lessons learned from ARPA-e, and how they might be applied in ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ to potentially grow its own local energy innovation ecosystem.
