Human Services (HUMS)

Students in the human services program receive skills-based education in a rapidly growing field. An Associate Degree in Human Services develops practitioners who are educated, ethical thinkers who can apply their knowledge to serving others in various aspects of society. Human services professionals work with both children and adults who are undergoing crisis or chronic situations.

Students may select an area of concentration from the following: addictions counseling, behavioral health, or interdisciplinary concentration. Students learn interviewing and assessment, case management, crisis intervention, group counseling techniques, and other specific skills needed within their concentration area.

This degree program is offered out of CIS's Interior ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Campus (IAC) in Fairbanks and the Kuskokwim Campus (KuC) in Bethel. Courses may be taught through a blended delivery cohort model, distance, and face to face.
