Permafrost tunnel highlighted at Oregon museum's exhibit

A walk-through replica of the permafrost research tunnel in Fox, ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥, will be part of a display opening Nov. 3 at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry in Portland, Oregon. The exhibit is a collaborative effort between OMSI and the Geophysical Institute.

Dead Writers event planned at Blue Loon

The 27th annual Dead Writers event will be from 7-10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at the Blue Loon. Members of the public are invited to dress as their favorite dead writer, give a short reading or performance from a dead writer's work, and compete for prizes.

There was something different about Betye Arrastia-Nowak. Her parents were sure of it. Just a week and a half prior, the rising high school junior boarded her first plane. She flew from upstate New York to ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥, nervous about meeting a new group of people and then traveling with them on a wilderness expedition into ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥â€™s fjords.
