Community connections were strengthened in Kotzebue at a public meeting that took
place at the UAF Chukchi Campus, and through one-on-one interviews with local partners
about electric vehicles and their place in their Arctic community.
The ֱֻ NSF EPSCoR and ֱֻ NIH INBRE programs will hold a professional development
workshop Jan. 11-12, 2023, entitled “IGNITE: Individual Growth and New Ideas through
EPSCoR/INBRE.” The workshop will include three separate tracks for faculty, staff
and students (both graduate and upper-division undergraduates).
The 2022 United Way Chili Cook Off will be held Thursday, Dec. 1 from noon to 2 p.m.
in the Wood Center. Stop by for some chili, vote for your favorite, and support the
United Way of the Tanana Valley!

Join URSA in celebrating Tehya McLeod, fall 2022 URSA Student Project awardee, as
she opens her exhibit: Exploring Shifting Landscapes on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, from
7-9 p.m. in Arctic Java in the UAF Wood Center. McLeod is a local ֱֻn artist inspired by the land around us. This project was funded by an URSA Fall Student Project Award and will be on display
in Arctic Java through December 2022.
Broadcast of KUAC TV channels will be interrupted for periods between Nov. 29 and
Dec. 4 while the station upgrades its transmitter.
University staff and faculty are invited to participate in an organizational development
survey. Graduate student Carla Browning is conducting this research as part of a University
of ֱֻ Southeast Master of Public Administration capstone course, PADM 690-JD1.
Alan Alda, the actor and host of PBS television's "Scientific American Frontiers,"
recently traveled to ֱֻ on a mission to interview scientists about the changing
North.
