31st annual Science for 乐虎直播 talks and outreach events announced

The 乐虎直播 Geophysical Institute will host free public talks about tracking space debris, fostering education using the outdoors, new techniques for understanding aurora, the 1964 Great 乐虎直播 Earthquake, and climate change and its effects on 乐虎直播鈥檚 wildlife. The annual lecture series has a new twist this year; Science for 乐虎直播 is offering free outreach events and K-12 science activities prior to the spring talk series.

UAF hosting candidates for assistant professor of animal physiology

The UAF Department of Biology and Wildlife, and the Institute of Arctic Biology, will be hosting candidates for the position of Assistant Professor of Animal Physiology at UAF. Each candidate will be on campus for two days, meeting with faculty and students, and presenting a one-hour, in-person seminar of their research in Murie Auditorium at 3 p.m. with a reception following each seminar in the Murie lobby.

Annual driver renewal reminder

Each year, any individual who is driving on UAF business must update their driving form and present it to their supervisor for record-keeping. Information on becoming a UAF-approved driver can be found on the UAF Risk Management website.

Staff Alliance support for development activities

Staff Alliance is offering support for staff professional development activities that directly support their career or professional development in FY23. This support is good for any activities occurring within FY23, and is for up to $500 per employee, while the funds last Examples of applicable activities include but not limited to: Professional organization membership and dues, online training, conferences, and professional webinars. Wanda Wahl, Bristol Bay Campus interim director

January Rural Staff Spotlight: Wanda Wahl

Wanda Wahl stepped into her current position as Bristol Bay Campus interim director in May 2021. She has been the second longest acting Bristol Bay Campus director ever. Wanda is a lifelong resident of Dillingham and a member of the Curyung Tribe. She has worked tirelessly and set an example that promotes pride in the campus among staff and faculty.
