The College of Rural and Community Development is excited to announce that Sean AsikÅ‚uk Topkok has been appointed director of the Center for Cross-Cultural Studies. AsikÅ‚uk has a long history with the CXCS, having worked with the center and previous leadership since 1997 through the ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Rural Systemic Initiative and the ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Native Knowledge Network. Topkok's new appointment became effective April 10, 2023.

We have four food trucks visiting campus this week in the Cornerstone Plaza from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

  • Monday, May 22: Stuff Yo Face (Funnel Cakes)

  • Tuesday May 23: Early Bird Loaded Fries

  • Wednesday May 24: Corn Diggity Dogs

Limited employee spaces available in Student Gardener Training Program

For the first time, the Nanook Grown Student Gardener Training Program has limited spaces available for UAF employees during the 2023 gardening season. The program is free for students. UAF employees may participate for a $40 fee.

Registration still open for UAF Summer Music Academy

Registration is open for the UAF Summer Music Academy. SMA is a day-camp for young musicians who have completed 5th-12th grades. All levels are welcome. This year we are introducing a new Introduction to Band and Orchestra program. No experience is necessary and instruments will be available for rent.

UAF scientists to hunt for clues about Arctic Ocean glaciation

Evidence indicates a thick ice sheet, not annual sea ice and icebergs, covered the Arctic Ocean at some point during the last 140,000 years. Now, University of ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Fairbanks scientists will be looking for more geologic proof of the ice sheet's existence, sources, behavior and extent. Read more ...Ìý
