With heavy snows expected, Facility Services is working around the clock to provide
drivable roads and parking spaces for all university stakeholders. Hard pack removal
is a significant part of snow clearance. To provide a safe working environment for
our plows and graders and to protect your personal vehicle, we need to close certain
parking lots. Please view a complete list of the parking lot closures .
Student Health and Counseling will be closed Dec. 16 from 3-5 p.m. The week of Dec. 19-22 offices will be closed from 12:30-1:30 p.m. due to reduced
staffing during soft closure. The week of Jan. 3-6, 2023, offices will be closed from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Call 907-474-7043 for appointments. Visit this page for more details on open hours during the closure.
Nanook Sports Update
Toolik Field Station welcomes all to join them for two days of science and conversation
at their biennial All Scientists Meeting this January in Santa Barbara, CA. The All
Scientists Meeting is intended to spark conversation, inspire new ideas, and garner
feedback amongst the Toolik community. Registration has now been extended thru Jan. 4, 2023.
Learn to safely preserve foods at home in a five-week series of online classes available
statewide from Jan. 7 to Feb. 4. Live instruction will be offered during a three-hour Zoom session each Saturday at
1 p.m. Students will complete assignments in their kitchens on their own schedules.
Assigned readings and other activities will be accessed via the Canvas platform.ÌýThe registration deadline is Dec. 31.ÌýRegistration and more class details are available at or by contacting Lewis.

The ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ State Museum in Juneau is presenting a solo exhibition of Gail Priday’s
paintings through Feb. 4, 2023. Priday, associate director of Summer Sessions and
Lifelong Learning and UAF art department alumna, received a 2022 Individual Artist
Award from the Rasmuson Foundation. A portion of the award helped cover the cost of
shipping 33 paintings from Fairbanks to Juneau.
ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ INBRE Program offers two summer research assistantship opportunities for students
interested in research. Applications must be submitted by Feb. 3, 2023.
ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ INBRE offers the Sustaining Research Excellence opportunity to successful biomedical
and health researchers within the INBRE network to receive funding for the support
of graduate students, post-doctoral scholars, and technicians, the purchase of equipment,
and/or to provide for buyouts from teaching. Deadline to apply is Jan. 31, 2023.
University scientists working in Arctic communities and on citizen science projects
are invited to participate in a survey of their experiences. The results will be used
to better understand how scientists are shaped by leading or working on community
and/or citizen science projects in the Arctic or sub-Arctic.
