Financial Aid

An international student in F-1 status is a non-resident alien on a non-immigrant visa which permits full time study in the U.S. Federal regulations and UAF admissions policy require that students with F-1 and F-2 visas have enough resources to meet their expenses throughout their stay at UAF.

Federal regulations limit the types of financial assistance available to international students. Since federal financial aid is for U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents, international students are not eligible for financial aid or student loan through the UAF Financial Aid. However, international students may be eligible for University of ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Foundation and privately funded scholarships. See UAF's scholarships webpage for more information.

International students should search for their own country’s banks, embassy, or ministry of education as they may offer information about available financial aid and loan opportunities.
