James Morton Jr., will present "Thriving ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Native Veterans: Translational Research for Health Promotion and Harm Reduction among Military Service Members" at the IAB Life Sciences Seminar on Friday, Oct. 29, 3 p.m. via Zoom. More information is available on the event website.
Morton is research assistant professor in the Center for ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Native Health Research, part of the Institute of Arctic Biology.
Understanding how ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Native veterans thrive is the focus of a recent grant awarded to Morton. The pilot study is funded by the National Institutes of Health through the Mountain West Clinical and Translational Research Infrastructure Network. This one-year grant supports a community collaboration to better understand the protective and risk factors among ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Native veterans in the Fairbanks area.
The work done under this grant will support future efforts to promote mental health and well-being among military service members and veterans living in ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥. For questions or comments, Morton can be reached at jrmortonjr2@alaska.edu.
