Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning has a few openings in the Knitting for the Beginner and Introduction to Pickleball non-credit courses for adults. Register today!

Knitting for the Beginner (The last day to register is Sunday, Feb. 2!)
Instructor: Ginny Kinne
Meets: Feb. 3-10, Mondays and Friday, 6-9 p.m.
Location: Murie 107, UAF Campus
Cost: $150
Description: This course is designed for people who are new to the world of knitting. During this course, students will learn the basics of knitting techniques, the language used, and the materials involved. We will discuss the differences between Continental and English-style knitting, learn the knit and the purl stitch, and understand how to identify and fix mistakes. The course will also teach you about the materials and tools involved in knitting and, most importantly, what’s needed and not needed to knit and finish a project. Participants will knit a hat in class and leave with the skills to keep on knitting! Yarn and needles will be provided. Returning students can choose between making another hat or knitting a pair of mittens.

Introduction to Pickleball! (The last day to register is Sunday, Feb. 2!)

Meets: Feb. 4-25, Tuesdays and Thursdays, noon-1 p.m.
Location: SRC, UAF Campus
Cost: $95
Description: Are you curious to try out the fastest-growing sport in the USA? Pickleball is a net sport that takes elements of tennis and ping pong, combining them into a game that is accessible for kids as well as senior citizens. This course will cover the basics of serving, dinking, volleys, lobs, rules of gameplay, and more! Six sessions will have you feeling confident to join in on Open and Relish Play with the Farthest North Pickleball Club. Beware, this game is quite addicting and very social, too!
