Presentation to discuss resurrecting the woolly mammoth

Technology startup company Colossal Biosciences and national organization The Explorer's Club will host a presentation about the company's work toward resurrecting the woolly mammoth. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place Monday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m. in the engineering building atrium and Schaible Auditorium. 

A reception will begin at 6 p.m. in the engineering building atrium. A presentation and discussion will follow at 7 p.m. in Schaible Auditorium, and will focus on how, why and whether DNA technology should be used resurrect the woolly mammoth, an extinct animal that last lived in ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ thousands of years ago. 

Colossal Biosciences is a private company that plans to use DNA recovered from mammoths to generate a hybrid mammoth-elephant species that could inhabit the Arctic. The event is an opportunity for ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ns to hear about the plan and provide feedback.
