National History Honors Society

 
 

The Phi Alpha Theta/UAF History Honors Society (PAT) is an association of scholars and students interested in all fields of academic history.

 

 

 

PAT is dedicated to the following:

the promotion of historical studies and instruction in ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥

 

The encouragement of original historical and historiographical research in all historical fields including (but not limited to) cultural, societal, economic, literary, linguistic, biographical, Marxist, feminist and philosophical.

The fostering of closer relations between students interested in historical study both within ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ and abroad.

 

Membership is lifelong, and includes the following perks:

 

  • A one-year subscription to the Historian journal (which is published quarterly).

  • Opportunities to present papers at the annual state, regional, and national conferences.

  • The chance to interact with like-minded individuals sharing similar interests.

  • Official roles of responsibility which help to appropriately garnish an undergraduates curriculum vitae (CV).
  Membership Qualifications
  • At least a 3.1 GPA in twelve (12) or more credit hours of history.

  • At least a 3.0 overall GPA.

Membership is also open to any (and all) non-history degree seeking majors.
PAT

Official Roles include:

  • President (nominated by predecessor)

  • Vice-President (chosen by both the President and the organizational body)

  • Treasurer

  • Secretary

  • Director of (various) Affairs

    • This position is open to students who wish to further their study into specific areas which include any field (or sub-field) of history. For example: Director of Feminist Affairs, Director of Native American Studies, Director of Military History.
